Children & Youth Ministry

We embrace children in our church community and have several Christian and enriching programs for them!

The purpose of our Children / Youth Ministry is to educate our children in God’s word and to live the word as an example for them to follow.

Children’s TimeSunday morning worship at TPC (All children are welcome!)

During the 11:00 AM worship service at Tazewell Presbyterian Church, children come down front and join the pastor for a special children’s message before the regular sermon.  At the end of the children’s message, a church volunteer takes the children downstairs for a Children’s Church lesson that usually builds on the message that the pastor shared.  This includes a Bible story and craft time!

Adventure Time and TAG (The Adventure Gang) Wednesdays after school from 3:30 – 5:00 PM

On Wednesday afternoons from 3:30 to 5:00 PM, children and youth meet in the Tazewell Presbyterian Church fellowship hall where they share a snack and then break into two groups.  Adventure Time is for students from Kindergarten through grade five (K-5).

The second group, called TAG (The Adventure Gang), is for middle school students grades 6-8.  Each group has a Bible Story, a craft, and music time with our choir director.  The Adventure Time Choir and the Middle School Choir sing during worship one Sunday a month.

Merge – Sunday evenings from 5:00 – 6:30 PM

Sunday evenings are an exciting time for our younger church members.  Our children and youth can attend Merge which is a partnership among local churches that provides a combined weekly non-denominational worship service for students in grades K-12.   This is held at Main Street United Methodist Church but may sometimes meet at other locations.  This program usually starts with a game and uplifting praise music.  Then the students are divided into two groups, K-5 and 6 -12.  This allows for age specific lessons.  Children come back together for another song and a closing prayer. Merge will teach within the framework of the Apostle’s Creed but will not undermine any churches distinctive doctrine.

VBS (Vacation Bible School) – Summer

Typically held near the end of June, VBS is Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 12:00 noon. Classes are grouped for Preschool – 5th grade while the Middle and High School youth assist as helpers.
